Tour Overview

Experience the rich traditions of Khmu culture through immersive cooking classes which are available daily at the Khmu Connections Cultural Centre.  Morning Session: 8:30 AM – 12:30 pm or  Evening Session: 4:00pm – 8:00 pm

Meeting Point
Pick-Up Point: Ferry pier (Luang Prabang side)
Meet your local guide at the ferry pier who will be easily identifiable with a tour sign. Begin your journey with a scenic boat crossing over the Mekong River to Chomphet District.
Upon arrival, continue by tuk-tuk for approximately 15 minutes through peaceful countryside landscapes to reach Khmu Connections Cultural Centre.

Welcome Experience
Upon arrival, guests are warmly welcomed with a traditional Khmu herbal drink made from local plants and indigenous herbs—offering a refreshing introduction to the natural flavours of Khmu hospitality.

Cultural Introduction
Learn about the Khmu people through an engaging introduction led by a knowledgeable local guide, covering:

• Ancient origins and migration across Southeast Asia
• Traditional customs and daily life 
• Deep connection to nature and the land 
• Cultural resilience and preservation 

Cooking Experience

Discover the essence of Khmu cuisine through a guided cooking session using fresh, organic ingredients and traditional methods.
Participants will prepare:

Steamed sticky rice – a staple of Khmu cuisine 

Fresh organic spring rolls – filled with local herbs and vegetables

Pork salad – a signature dish with bold, balanced flavours 

Seasonal dessert – steamed rice with banana or coconut in banana leaves
After cooking, enjoy your creations together in a traditional shared meal.

Cultural Performance
Enjoy a live performance featuring traditional bamboo instruments. Played by a local musician, these handcrafted instruments reflect the rhythm and heritage of Khmu culture.
Optional Garden Experience
Guests may visit a nearby garden to harvest fresh herbs and vegetables used

Guests will be returned to the Ferry Pier at Chomphet District for their ferry journey to Luang Prabang side of the Mekong River.

Inclusions:

• English speaking guide 
• Transport to Khmu Connections by either Tuk Tuk or Tractor wagon and return journey to Ferry Pier.
